Once a Power Ranger, always a Power Ranger. We’re not sure if that’s a thing, but it should be. Especially in the case of one Amy Jo Johnson, who played original Pink Ranger Kimberly Hart. Johnson, actress, director, and now comic book writer, has taken it upon herself to continue the story of the “Mighty Morphin Power Rangers” in a very special release from BOOM! Direct.

The four-issue event “Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Return” was co-written by Johnson with Matt Hotson, and art and character design by Nico Leon.  It tells the tale of an alternate history for the original Rangers where Rita Repulsa and Lord Zedd WIN! Due to this shocking loss, a new future is created, with all kinds of consequences and implications for the Rangers.

Like….Tommy (the late Jason David Frank) and Kimberly’s DAUGHTER, Olivia Hart?! Who is now the Green Ranger, complete with the flute?! *Gasp*

A Kickstarter campaign for the release successfully funded in 45 minutes, which is no small thing! They were seeking $50,000 and have surpassed it to the tune of almost $400,000.
