“Aliens” Getting 5-Issue Comic Book Continuation

There’s gonna be a new “What If…?” from Marvel Comics in the neighborhood. Well, galaxy? Universe? James Cameron‘s “Aliens” is FINALLY getting the continuation it was supposed to, at least in comic book form. [If you’ll recall, Neill Blomkamp actually had a direct sequel in the works that would have seen the cast of “Aliens” return for a 3rd film, but that ultimately didn’t happen.]

But now, thanks to Marvel Comics, we’re getting a 5-issue mini shot comic all about everyone’s favorite “Aliens” character- Carter Burke. [You can pre-order the 4K of the film here.]

What? You DON’T know who company man Carter Burke is? Well, Paul Reiser brought the Wayland Yutani representative to life in the film, and he’s getting his dues. Writers include Adam F. Goldberg (“The Goldbergs“), Brian Volk-Weiss (“The Toys/Movies That Made Us“), Hans Rodionoff (“Damage Control“), Paul and his son Leon Reiser.

“For years, people have asked me about Burke,” Reiser told Marvel. “What it was like to play such a ‘bad guy,’ to which my response was always ‘You say ‘bad,’ I say ‘misunderstood.’ Now the world will find out!”

Details are scarce, but we DO know that Burke survives, and somehow MANAGES TO LEAVE LV-426. The comic picks up roughly 35 years later, as his daughter finds out he’s “eeking out a cursed existence on a backwater asteroid.” Sounds…about right, actually.

You can expect to find “Aliens What If…?” in stores starting March 6th. Also, if you haven’t picked up the official “Alien” Anthology box set yet, you should
