Kansas City’s Planet Comicon Schedules Earlier Dates For 2018

    Planet Comicon

Even as events continue to try to dial in better dates for their respective regions, the convention calendar continues to get more crowded by the day. One of the Midwest’s longer-running conventions, Planet Comicon Kansas City, has announced new, far earlier dates than what it had in recent years: President’s Day weekend, February 16th–18th. That marks a move of a full two months earlier than its 2015/2016 dates.

PCC will be celebrating its 20th year in Kansas City in 2018, and has regularly hosted headline television, film, and comic creator guests like Arrow and Doctor Who’s John Barrowman, Clerks creator Kevin Smith, and Marvel’s legendary Stan Lee.

Already hosting more than 50,000 annual guests, the con is celebrating its 20th anniversary in 2018. These new dates also put it before the April/May hubbub of the start of the main summer convention season, which may move it towards some new record-setting numbers.

2017’s headline comic creator guests included: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles creator Kevin Eastman,  Chris Claremont (The Uncanny X-Men), Harley Quinn co-writers Amanda Conner and Jimmy Palmiotti; a GoComics.com Creator Showcase featuring Bill Amend (FoxTrot), Stephen Pastis (Pearls Before Swine), and Sarah Andersen (Sarah’s Scribbles).
