“Wonder Woman”: Check Out The Amazon Squad

While the community of reviewers are still highly divided on just how disappointed they are with Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, feast your eyes on this image of Wonder Woman in her element with her fellow Themyscira residents.

Part of me feels it looks like a shot out of Tarsem Singh’s Immortals, which I’m TOTALLY ok with because his visionary work is exactly the tone and visual feast a film about Diana Prince should be.

Here we have Wonder Woman’s aunt Lieutenant Menalippe played by Lisa Loven Kongsli, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman/Diana Prince, Wonder Woman’s mother Queen Hippolyta played by Connie Nielsen, and her other aunt  General Antiope played by Robin Wright.

The new armor was designed by Lindy Hemming, and Director Patty Jenkins said her heroine:

“shouldn’t be dressed in armor like men. It should be different. It should be authentic and real — and appealing to women.  I, as a woman, want Wonder Woman to be hot as hell, fight badass, and look great at the same time — the same way men want Superman to have huge pecs and an impractically big body. That makes them feel like the hero they want to be. And my hero, in my head, has really long legs.”

We still have a long journey ahead, but this first female fronted solo superhero film since Supergirl is currently filming.  I *still* wish we could have gotten George Miller’s vision for the character, I weep for the Odyssey masterpiece it would have been.

Expect to see Wonder Woman arriving in theaters on June 23rd, 2017.
