    “Gambit”: Rupert Wyatt To Direct

The first of the X-Men solo films just got themselves a director.  The film will star Channing Tatum as Remy LeBeau, the Ragin’ Cajun.

Rupert Wyatt (The Gambler, Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes) has been named to helm the mutant-tastic film.  While no one is sure what the storyline will entail, all evidence points to the early stories.  Mostly because the screenplay is based on a treatment by Marvel Comics writer Chris Claremont, who with Jim Lee created the character for Marvel in 1990.

We’re hoping the film doesn’t suck.  The character is interesting enough that any origin story could be entertaining, as long as the script is good.  We’ll be seeing Gambit in theaters on October 7th, 2016.
