“The Crow”: Remake Officially Casts It’s Lead

I am so excited!  Yes, I was really hoping the Battlestar Galactica fans were right, and the buzz around former Viper pilot Sam Witwer were true, and he’d be donning the grease paint in the remake of the cult classic The Crow.  But, we know that isn’t the case.

After Hobbit star Luke Evans had been announced as taking the role once played by the late Brandon Lee, it was announced about two weeks ago that he wasn’t going to be able to join the production.  We know now it’s because Disney snagged him to be Gaston in their upcoming liveaction Beauty And The Beast alongside Emma Watson.

The REAL casting news comes to us from the Lexington Comic and Toy Convention where The Crow comic creator James O’Barr announced that Jack Huston, the masked man from Boardwalk Empire, was going to be playing the role of Eric Draven in Relativity Studios remake.

O’Barr told Dread Central that Huston has “definitely been cast.” O’Barr was excited for Luke Evans to the play the part but he left the project and then O’Barr championed Sam Witwer. Even though, Huston got the part instead that hasn’t dampened his mood as he said he was “really happy with that choice”.  Corin Hardy (“The Hallow”) will direct the remake/reboot of Alex Proyas’ 1994 film.

We’ll let you guys know as more info becomes available, but Jack’s character was certainly one of the high points on the HBO series.  Woo.
