Remember when we reported back at SDCC last year that Ash would be reunited with his chainsaw?  Well, the majority of outlets thought it was just Raimi making noise, until an official press release came out saying that yeah, it was actually happening, and that Raimi/Bruce Campbell were returning for it.

Billed as a 10 part “sequel”, the first two names (other than Bruce) have been added to the cast.  Ray Santiago (Touch) will be Pablo Simon Bolivar, an idealistic immigrant who becomes Ash’s loyal sidekick, Pablo believes in Ash’s heroism even if Ash himself doesn’t. Dana DeLorenzo (Californication) will be Kelly Maxwell, a moody wild child trying to outrun her past. Reluctantly dragged into the fight against Evil with Ash and Pablo, Kelly finds a different kind of family with her fellow Deadite slayers.

Production on Ash vs. Evil Dead will begin in the spring in New Zealand. Sam Raimi will direct the pilot, which he co-wrote with his brother, Ivan Raimi (Darkman, Army of Darkness, Drag Me to Hell), and Tom Spezialy (Chuck, Reaper, Desperate Housewives). Craig DiGregorio (Chuck) will exec produce and serve as the writing showrunner along with Sam Raimi, Rob Tapert and Campbell. Ivan Raimi will co-executive produce, while Aaron Lam (Spartacus) will produce.

The 10 part series is set to premiere on Starz in late 2015.
