We are delighted to report the “Lord of the Rings” anime project has a likely release date. Announced in the summer of 2021, “War of the Rohirrim” will follow King of Rohan Helm Hammerhand, as well as the creation of the great keep, Helm’s Deep.

Kenji Kamiyama (“Akira,” “Ghost In The Shell”) directs from a screenplay by Jeffrey Addiss and Will Matthews (“The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance“). Philippa Boyens, Oscar winner who co-wrote “The Lord of the Rings” feature films, is consulting.

“War of the Rohirrim” is a collaboration between Warner Bros. Animation and New Line Cinema.

No casting was announced yet, but we did get a lovely piece of concept art-

“Lord of the Rings: War of the Rohirrim” will premiere sometime in 2024. Amazon’s “The Rings of Power“ will debut on September 2nd, 2022.
