“12 Monkeys”: New SyFy Series First 9 Minutes!

If you enjoy the dystopian futuristic apocalyptic genre, chances are you’ve seen the classic Terry Gilliam film 12 Monkeys.  Long been rumored to garner a sequel, NBC-owned SyFy Network optioned the work into a new tv series that premieres Friday January 16th at 9pm EST.

The general feeling of this new telling of the story is apprehension, and the first 9 minutes of the show available for viewing on SyFy’s website does nothing to help alleviate that fear.  You can watch it for free here.

The film starred Brad Pitt, Bruce Willis and Madeleine Stowe, and was released in 1995.  You can check out the cast for the SyFy series here, on their official page on the SyFy website.

I had the chance to talk to Terry Gilliam at last year’s DragonCon, and he made the comment that SyFy hadn’t contacted him at all about being apart of the tv show.

This disappoints me greatly, as I usually support SyFy and their ongoing mission to attempt to bring original science fiction material to cable audiences.

12 Monkeys will help anchor SyFy’s Friday night originals lineup, teaming with returning Helix.
