Wanna See a bit of Amazon’s “Wheel of Time” First Read Through?

You KNOW we’re pretty excited here at Aggressive Comix for Amazon’s upcoming live-action adaptation of Robert Jordan’s (and later Brandon Sanderson’s) “Wheel of Time.” Each “WoT Wednesday” brings new cool info from the show’s official Twitter account, and today was no slouch.

A compiled video taken on September 10th was posted today, which just happens to be the first full-cast read through of the pilot episode!

(If you missed the previous news with the almost complete casting announcement, you can see that here.)

On September 10th, the cast and crew of #WOTonPrime got together to read the first episode of The Wheel Of Time. Production is now on its way and we are VERY excited to see this show come to life! #TwitterOfTime, this is for you. pic.twitter.com/FmWA4zeh2r

Rosamund Pike is starring in the Amazon Studios series as Moiraine, Josha Stradowski will be playing Rand Al Thor, Daniel Henry will be playing Moiraine’s Warder Lan, Marcus Rudda will be playing Perrin Aybara, Barney Harris as Mat Cauthon, Zoë Robins as Nynaeve, and Madeleine Madden as Egwene Al’Vere.

The fantasy epic is set in a sprawling, epic world where magic exists, but only women can use it. The story follows Moiraine, a member of the shadowy and influential all-female organization called the Aes Sedai, as she embarks on a dangerous, world-spanning journey with five young men and women. Moiraine believes that one of them might be the reincarnation of an incredibly powerful individual, whom prophecies say will either save humanity or destroy it. The series draws on numerous elements of European and Asian culture and philosophy, most notably the cyclical nature of time found in Buddhism and Hinduism.

Last we heard, the series was moving forward with Westworld‘s Ute Briesewitz on board to direct the first two episodes of the tale. Showrunner Rafe Judkins shared the news, and we adored his admission that Briesewitz “can pronounce Nynaeve like she was born to it,” something with fans of the Village Wisdom have been fighting about for years.

We’ll of course let you know what else we hear about casting, news, and a possible expected release date!

The Wheel of Time turns, and Ages come and pass, leaving memories that become legend. Legend fades to myth, and even myth is long forgotten when the Age that gave it birth comes again.
