Here’s What We’re Getting on the ‘Ready Player One’ 4K and Blu-Ray

One of the recent films we have a decidedly love-hate-love relationship with is Warner Bros.’s Ready Player One. Don’t get me wrong: for what the film is, it’s tremendously entertaining and well presented, and it certainly had a box office reception that reflected that. We’ve been waiting for news about the official home release of the flick, and today we got our answers.

Here's What We're Getting on the 'Ready Player One' 4K and Blu-Ray

The 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray 3D Combo Pack release of Ready Player One will include an Ultra HD Blu-ray disc with the theatrical version in 4K with HDR and a Blu-ray disc featuring the theatrical version and a Digital version of the movie. The Blu-ray Combo Pack will feature a Blu-ray disc with the film in hi-definition, a Blu-ray disc with the special features in hi-definition, a DVD with the film in standard definition and a Digital version of the movie.

Here's What We're Getting on the 'Ready Player One' 4K and Blu-Ray

On that 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray disc, you’ll be able to enjoy the feature in Dolby VisionTM HDR that dramatically expands the color palette and contrast range and uses dynamic metadata to automatically optimize the picture for every screen, frame by frame.

Another big plus- the 4K will feature a Dolby Atmos® soundtrack remixed specifically for the home theater environment to place and move audio anywhere in the room, including overhead. (To experience Dolby Atmos at home, a Dolby Atmos enabled AV receiver and additional speakers are required, or a Dolby Atmos enabled sound bar. Dolby Atmos soundtracks are also fully backward compatible with traditional audio configurations and legacy home entertainment equipment.)

How bout those extras you ask?  The Ready Player One 4K Ultra HD 3D Blu-ray and Blu-ray Combo Pack will have 6 feaurettes including:

    • Game Changer: Cracking the Code
    • Effects for a Brave New World
    • Level Up: Sound for the Future
    • High Score: Endgame
    • Ernie & Tye’s Excellent Adventure
    • The ’80’s: You’re The Inspiration

The Standard Definition DVD will have the The ’80’s: You’re The Inspiration featurette.

Ready Player One will be available beginning July 3rd digitally on 4K from digital retailers iTunes, Google and Vudu, with the high definition and standard definition available digitally from Amazon, FandangoNow, iTunes, PlayStation, Vudu, Xbox and others.

RP1 will release physically and On Demand on July 24th.

    See you in The OASIS!
