    Kurt Russell on John Carpenter, “Tombstone,” and More

    Kurt Russell isn’t just an action film icon. Well, he IS, but he isn’t JUST that. Talk about a storied career, right? Some of his earliest work was as a contract player at Disney, and is one of the few working actors who actually knew and had a friendship with Walt Disney.

    Then there’s the string of 80s films we see as classics. “Escape from New York,” “The Thing,” “Big Trouble in Little China-” all made with director/writer/composer John Carpenter. From there, slightly more mainstream with hits like “Backdraft,” and perhaps the greatest modern Western of all time, “Tombstone.” We could write novels about that film alone. [Especially the legend of how Russell stepped in to complete the picture following the departure of original director Kevin Jarre. But we digress.]

    But why read us talking about it, when you can just listen to him talk about it himself.
