“FINALLY!” I’ve been hearing from hordes of people regarding the release of the film Knights of Badassdom.  That’s right, after at least a year of distribution limbo, you can watch Peter Dinklage, Summer Glau, Steve Zahn and Ryan Kwanten fight demons to pretty badass tunes.  Available February 11th 2014 digitally and VOD, we’ll update you as soon as we know the particulars about the websites and outlets you can find it on.

1922499_631412100265002_172167588_n What we DO know is La-La Land Records has been allotted 360 autographed CDs of the soundtrack.  Why does that matter?  Because the score was crafted by Emmy winning composer Bear McCreary, and features some pretty fantastic songs and guest musicians.   The soundtrack features performances by Brendan McCreary (Young Beautiful in a Hurry), Raya Yarbrough, and heavy metal and rock luminaries including Brendon Small (Dethklok), Doug Aldrich (Whitesnake, Dio), Mike Keneally (Frank Zappa), Steve Bartek (Oingo Boingo), Ira Ingber (Bob Dylan), Pete Griffin (Three Inches of Blood) and Joe Travers (Zappa Plays Zappa).  The signed discs are available to order starting Feb 11, 12pm (PST), and once they are sold out, they are gone for good.

The official track listing for the album:

    1.  The Kingdom of Eliphaz (4:02)
    2.  Your Heart Sucks My Soul (Garage Version) [feat. Brendan McCreary] (1:59)
    3.  Joe’s Power Ballad (feat. Brendan McCreary) (3:18)
    4.  The Game Master (3:55)
    5. Slightly Badass (2:44)
    6. The Sigillum Dei Aemaeth (1:55)
    7. Paintballers (1:56)
    8. Demon Apes (3:11)
    9. Gwen’s Theme (2:07)
    10. Massacre at Valinore (5:08)
    11. Out of Game (3:24)
    12. The Hell Lord Abominog (3:45)
    13. Earn Our Valor (5:35)
    14. The Epic Battle of Evermore (2:40)
    15. Abominog Battle (6:26)
    16. Your Heart Sucks My Soul (feat. Brendan McCreary & Brendon Small) (4:42)
    17. At the Gates (feat. Brendan McCreary & Doug Aldrich) (7:21)

Bear had this to say about the score and film: “Knights of Badassdom is perhaps the most brutal soundtrack I’ve ever composed. I finally had the chance to reach out to many of my favorite heavy metal musicians and they all shared my passion for this crazy movie. I got to collaborate with Brendon Small, Mike Keneally, Doug Aldrich, Steve Bartek and many more: it was a dream come true. The film is a love letter to fandom of all stripes, and the soundtrack is a mash-up of basically every genre of music I adore the most. Horns high, people.  \m/”

(He actually does do the rock fist thing.  I personally have seen him do it at SDCC at least three times, but then he topped that with his post-Emmy win pose.)
