Kevin Smith Wants a Michael Keaton ‘Batman Beyond’ as Much as We Do

Kevin Smith is an ultimate Batman fanboy, we know this. He hosts a podcast called Fatman on Batman (although he really isn’t anymore, dropping to below the 200 lbs mark last year), and is constantly a source of insight and unparalleled knowledge about the history of the capped crusader.

In the most recent episode of the Fatman on Batman podcast, the topic of Batman Beyond came up because the animated series just celebrated it’s 20th anniversary. This of course led into discussion about a possible live-action film based on the property, which sees an aged Bruce Wayne pass the cape and cowl to young Terry McGuinness.

During the recording, Marc Bernardin (comic writer, journalist) reminds Smith about the milestone anniversary, and Kevin responded with a comment that we wouldn’t get mad about: “They should do this as a live-action movie today.” Bernardin followed that up with yet another idea we love; bringing back former Batman Michael Keaton to once again play Bruce Wayne.

Smith’s response is pretty classic Smith, and we’ve gotta say, same:

“What you just witnessed was my c** face. That would be f****** amazing. Could you imagine? Oh my God…that movie makes a billion, right there man. If you’re like Michael Keaton’s coming back, people like ‘how is that possible’ and you’re like ‘because he’s Batman Beyond B****’ and people are ‘oh f*** we wanted this our whole lives!’ This is f****** good and I am down with this. When can we go?””

So, Warner Bros., in light Toby Emmerich‘s “less focused on a shared universe” DCEU quote, why not go THIS route? Just a thought.

*plays the Batman Beyond theme song super loud.*
