Disney’s streaming service Disney+ hasn’t even launched yet, and they’ve already ordered a second season of Jon Favreau’s live-action “Star Wars” series, “The Mandalorian”.

“We’re done with the first season and I’m actually writing part of the second season now,” Favreau told Jimmy Kimmel during a stop by “Jimmy Kimmel Live” to promote “The Lion King”.

“I’m having a blast. It’s like turning over your toy chest and playing with all the Star Wars toys together. We’re having a great time.

It’s about a bounty hunter, it’s after [the events depicted in] Return of the Jedi. The Empire is gone and ll hell is breaking loose on the outer rim. It’s about the scum and villainy now that, once you take out the rule of law what happens is chaos takes over.”

Starring Pedro Pascal as the title character, the show also touts Carl Weathers as Greef Carga (leader of a guild of Mandos), Gina Carano as Cara Dune (a former Shock Trooper), Nick Notle, Werner Herzog, Giancarlo Esposito, Omid Abtahi, Taika Waititi (who is also directing), and Emily Swallow.

“After the stories of Jango and Boba Fett, another warrior emerges in the Star Wars universe. The Mandalorian is set after the fall of the Empire and before the emergence of the First Order. We follow the travails of a lone gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy far from the authority of the New Republic.”

Dave Filoni will direct the first episode of the series; Bryce Dallas Howard, “Dope’s” Rick Famuyiwa, Deborah Chow (“Jessica Jones”), and Taika Waititi will direct additional episodes.

Disney+ is set to launch on November 12th, 2019 with “The Mandalorian” one of the expected titles to be available that day.
