We know that dear George R. R. Martin has been “struggling for years” to complete the next tome in the Song of Ice and Fire series, which inspired the HBO series Game of Thrones.

Fans don’t begrudge him the loss of a spark of inspiration really, but, he keeps assuring readers the book is coming.

Most recently, on his Not A Blog, Martin spoke about the visit back east he just took (Martin himself resides in Arizona) on his “Fire & Blood” book tour, as well as promising “Winds of Winter” is coming. Eventually.

..my thanks go out to my fans and readers.   I know you want WINDS, and I am going to give it to you… but I am delighted that you stayed with me for this one as well.  Your patience and unflagging support means the world to me.

Obviously, time will tell if this newest promise comes true.

Thank you for your creations, George!

Game of Thrones returns for its 8th and final season on HBO sometime in April of 2019.
