With 2019 dawning, the end of HBO’s Game of Thrones draws near. The high fantasy drama series will be premiering its 8th and final season sometime in April, but the television saga based on George R. R. Martin‘s “A Song of Ice and Fire Series” is far from over.

HBO has been hard at work developing a prequel series, reportedly set thousands of years before the action of Game of Thrones.

S.J. Clarkson has made history as the first female director for a “Star Trek” feature film.

As of today, we know that S.J. Clarkson (the first female director to tackle a Star Trek franchise film) will be handling the pilot episode of the yet-unnamed-but-Martin-calls-it-“The Long Night”-series from the director’s chair, as well as serving in an executive producer role.

In addition to that, Variety says the cast has been rounded out as well, with Naomi Ackie, Denise Gough, Jamie Campbell Bower, Sheila Atim, Ivanno Jeremiah, Georgie Henley, Alex Sharp, and Toby Regbo joining already announced talent Naomi Watts and Josh Whitehouse.

We will of course let you know what else we hear officially from HBO about the Game of Thrones prequel series.
