Exodus: Gods And Kings (Batman Plays Moses)

I am a Ridley Scott fan. He’s been responsible for some of the most influential and important pieces of science fiction cinema in history, Blade Runner and Alien.

It seems like the path of his projects recently has taken a Biblical turn, and his next big film project is a retelling of the story of Pharaoh Ramses II and the prophet Moses. The film will be an interpretation of the exodus of the Israelites from Egypt as led by Moses and related in the Old Testament Book of Exodus. It also looks like the film project following that for Scott will be a retelling of David and Goliath.

And a former Batman is playing Moses. Stop me if you’ve heard this one before, we had Val Kilmer tackle both the role of the Dark Knight (1995’s Batman Forever) and as the voice of Moses and God (1998’s Prince of Egypt animated film). Christian Bale will be bringing plagues into Egypt this time as Moses, Joel Edgerton is Ramses, Sigourney Weaver is playing Pharaoh Seti I’s sister Tuya and Moses’s adopted mother, Aaron Paul is Moses’s brother Joshua, Indira Varma is Moses’s sister Miriam, and María Valverde is Moses’s wife Sefora.
