Disney Declares Boba Fett’s Ship Slave-1 is No More

Remember when Disney purchased LucasFilm, and decided to make some name changes to certain things? Specifically, Princess Leia’s golden bikini from Jabba’s Palace in “Star Wars: Return of the Jedi.” Originally called the ‘Slave Leia’ outfit, the House of Mouse changed it to be ‘Hutt Slayer.’ All things considered, it was a good change, reflecting the continual self-rescuing abilities of the Last Princess of Alderaan. Even the late great Carrie Fisher approved of the change.

(Also, remember the Death Squad Commander figure from Kenner?)

But, a NEW change has the galaxy far, far away in an uproar. Mind you this is on one single LEGO set, so it may or may not be canon now. Boba Fett’s iconic spaceship, the Slave-1, has a brand new name- Boba Fett’s Starship.

This was originally reported this morning on a new LEGO set release, and confirmed by the set’s designers.

Michael Lee Stockwell, LEGO Star Wars Lead Designer, said of the news: “We’re not calling it Slave I anymore. This is Boba Fett’s Starship.”

“Everybody is (dropping the Slave 1 name),” LEGO designer Jens Kronvold Frederiksen added. “It’s probably not something which has been announced publicly, but it is just something that Disney doesn’t want to use any more.”

So, theoretically, this is a change we’ll be seeing across the “Star Wars” universe.

“The Book of Boba Fett” is currently in production, and season 3 of “The Mandalorian” will be coming to Disney+ at some point in the future.
