If you were unaware, Reed previously directed every episode of Yankovic’s 1997 tv series The Weird Al Show, and therefor has a uniquely qualified set of opinions about the curly-haired personality and artist.
(thread) @alyankovic is getting a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame this morning at 11:30. This is big news as far as I’m concerned. I love Al. I’ve loved his work since I was in college, during the nascent days of MTV. I love every one of his songs, parodies and originals. 1/4

In more than a handful of cases, Al’s parodies are better than the song they parody. “Bedrock Anthem”, “White and Nerdy”, “Amish Paradise” and “King of Suede” are a few examples. (Seriously, I empathize way more with the protagonist of “King of Suede” than I do with Sting.) 2/4

Al has managed to outlast most of the artists he’s parodied and has remained stunningly relevant for over four decades. He’s also gotten funnier as he’s gotten older. This isn’t easy to do. Oh, one more thing: Al is also the nicest person in show business history. 3/4

I had the privilege of directing all 13 episodes of THE WEIRD AL SHOW back in 1997, and working with Al is one of the highlights of my career. He is a friend and a constant inspiration. Congrats on your star, Al! I can’t wait to walk all over you, again and again. Cheers! 4/4
