“Blade Runner” Ana de Armas Joins Sequel

We’re slowly but surely getting closer to a full cast for the upcoming much anticipated sequel to the greatest science fiction film ever made, Blade Runner.  Yes, I DID just say it’s the greatest, because it routinely tops the “Best”, “Greatest”, “Favorite” lists the various academies and experts write.

In 1982 director Ridley Scott introduced us to the cinematic replicants, robots with soles and an end date, based on the work of Philip K Dick, “Do Androids Dream Of Electric Sheep”.  The original film holds up today, in fact, the fabulous blu-ray putting many modern CGI fests to shame with the quality of everything including some of the most incredible models.

It was announced today by Variety that Ana De Armas (Knock Knock) is joining the cast, as a yet unnamed character.  Seems like that’s how this film is gonna play to the press thus far, and I couldn’t be happier.  I WANT this film to be a surprise, I don’t want to know the story or the characters until I’m sitting in the theater watching it for the first time.

The long awaited sequel is already set to star Ryan Gosling, Robin Wright, and the returning Blade Runner himself, Harrison Ford as Rick Deckard.  Principal photography begins in July of 2016, with Roger Deakins on board as cinematographer. Denis Villeneuve (Sicario) is directing, and the as of yet untitled film is scheduled to hit theaters on October 6th, 2017.
