Amazon’s Abridged “It’s a Wonderful Life” Removes Crucial Scene

We’re not sure how to tell you this, but one of the largest streaming houses out there has made a very, very strange choice. Edits to films from a different era are nothing new, but for one iconic seasonal classic, we’re just over here scratching our heads. Frank Capra‘s “It’s a Wonderful Life” is more than just a take on Charles Dickens‘ “A Christmas Carol,” it’s a beautiful film about so much more. And apparently, one of it’s crucial scenes that sort of make or break the entire story has been removed on Prime Video.

Our attention was drawn to this by Germain Lussier (Io9, Gizmodo) tweeting about it. Apparently, the ENTIRE POTTERVILLE SCENE, in which George (Jimmy Stewart) sees what life would be like if he were never born, is missing.

How?

HOW can THAT pivotal scene be removed?! And for what reason?!
