After originally announcing only two of the five Best Original Song nominees would be performing their entries during the telecast, it appears The Academy has changed their minds.

Best Original Song Performances WILL Happen at Academy Awards [Oscars]

Previously, it seemed only “Shallow” from A Star Is Born and “All The Stars” from Black Panther would get live performances, which understandably prompted responses from the other nominees.

    Like Lin-Manuel Miranda:

The 1st time I stayed up to watch the Oscars, it was because I LOVED The Little Mermaid & they were going to sing songs from the movie I loved on The Oscars.
If true, and Poppins’ song won’t be performed, truly disappointing. Hostless AND music-less?
    To quote Kendrick: Damn. https://t.co/BEXOy7JCId

Just a little while ago, Variety confirmed that two of the three other nominated songs WILL be getting televised live performances, with Jennifer Hudson set to belt out “I’ll Fight” from RBG, and a “special surprise guest” who will be performing “The Place Where Lost Things Go” from Mary Poppins Returns, although in “90 second” versions.

No word yet on “When A Cowboy Trades His Spurs for Wings” from The Ballad of Buster Scruggs will also be included.

    **UPDATE**

This just in from The Academy:

“Time to update your Songs That Will Be Performed On This Year’s Oscars Playlist: We’re excited to welcome @gillianwelch and David Rawlings to the #Oscars stage to sing “When a Cowboy Trades His Spurs for Wings” from “The Ballad of Buster Scruggs.””
