Good news for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story fans come 2019, it sounds like production on the Disney+ series centering around Cassian Andor will start production towards the tail end of the new year!

According to Production Weekly, things will kickoff on the series in October of 2019:

The series will be exclusive to Disney’s new streaming service Disney+, and will be one of two confirmed (so far) Star Wars live-action television shows.

The yet-unnamed Rogue One prequel show will star Diego Luna as Captain Cassian Andor of the Rebellion, the role he played in the Star Wars prequel film.

We know that Stephen Schiff has been tapped as showrunner for the series, bringing with him 5 years experience as both writer and producer on The Americans, as well as the recent American Assassin.

Thats pretty much all we know for sure that this point, which echos what Luna himself knew back in November, according to our friends over at Collider:

“I know as much as you know. That thing they sent to the press? I got that the day before. Very recently, that’s why I know very little. Very recently. I’m thrilled, I’m happy; it’s a dream come true to go back to that universe. I grew up watching those films and now I’m sharing that with my kids, so I’m very happy.”
