Disney knows the nostalgia factor is real when it comes to their upcoming film Mary Poppins Returns, and a new featurette video further proves this.

Titled “Back to Cherry Tree Lane”, the featurette really brings home the notion of reverance and love this sequel has for the original 1964 Mary Poppins film.

As director Rob Marshall puts it:

“Mary Poppins was what opened my mind up and the world up to movies and magic and music. There was a real sense that there’s so much more story to be told.”

The film will follow the grown up Banks children, sister Jane and brother Michael, with their own children to raise in a very different London. As the title suggests, the aforementioned Nanny-from-the-heavens returns, and a selection of musical and magical hijinks ensue.

Still based on the Mary Poppins Stories by P.L. Travers, Mary Poppins Returns boasts new original music by Marc Shaiman, and lyrics by Shaiman and Scott Wittman.

The impressive cast is being led by Emily Blunt as Poppins, as well as the multiple Tony Award-winning Lin-Manuel Miranda. Meryl Streep will play Mary’s cousin Topsy, Ben Whishaw will play Michael Banks, Emily Mortimer as Jane Banks, and Julie Walters as the Banks’ housekeeper Ellen. Pixie Davies, Nathanael Saleh and Joel Dawson will play the Banks children, Colin Firth will play Fidelity Fiduciary Bank’s William Weatherall Wilkins, and Dick Van Dyke will play Mr. Dawes, Jr., the retired chairman of the bank.

Mary Poppins Returns is set to hit theaters on December 19th, 2018.
