SHOWTIME series Shameless is gearing up for its ninth season, and they’re bringing in some heavy hitters to join the cast this year.

Katey Sagal is one of the new faces around the hood. She’s set to recur on the award-winning dramedy as Ingrid Jones, a crazed psych patient that Frank (William H. Macy) encounters in the E.R. and with whom he is immediately smitten. Oh boy, she sounds like EXACTLY the type of woman he goes for, too. There is no telling how mad their love will be.

Courteney Cox is also joining the cast this season; she will guest star as Jen Wagner, a famous actress who’s had a problem in the past with booze. Lip (Jeremy Allen White) is hired as her sober companion when she’s in town, and she takes him on a wild ride in search of a cocktail.

As you may recall, Shameless has been expanded in season 9 by Showtime, 14 episodes that are set to air in two parts — fall of 2018 and early 2019.

Season 9’s first half is set to premiere on Showtime on Sunday, September 9th, 2018 at 9 p.m. ET/PT, and the midseason finale on Sunday, October 21st at 9 p.m. The back half of season nine will premiere on Sunday, January 20th, 2019 at 9 p.m. on the cable network.

Shameless continues to be one of those special shows that toes the line of comedy and drama with believable and outrageous characters, family interplay, and incredible performances on the part of pretty much everyone in the Gallagher Family. At least the powers that be have finally acknowledged the talent of star Emmy Rossum and given her pay equity with co-star William H. Macy.
