Sad news, Outlander fans: the mind behind those beautiful Emmy-nominated costumes is stepping away from the series.

Terry Dresbach announced via her Twitter that she was leaving her position as head costume designer after the forthcoming fourth season.

Since S4 will be my last season, and our gang has safely arrived T Fraser’s Ridge, this seems like a perfect time.
So, go now and look at what is already there to see.

She cited, understandably, the time she’s resided in Scotland in order to maintain the workshop for the STARZ series wasn’t easy, and it was emotionally difficult.

This is not easy. It is incredibly emotional and difficult. But my kids. They are 19 and 17. They were 14 and 12 when I went to Scotland for 3 mos.

This came with the share of her much-talked-about Pinterest boards used to inspire and inform the rest of the team behind those pretty amazing garments created for the show. You can see that here.

While no names have been mentioned yet, Terry did say they’ve found someone very gifted and talented to take over.

I have worked hard to find someone to take over that I think is very gifted and talented

Like many fans of Terry’s work, I was inspired to create my own take on one of her season 2 French designs from the series, and she very kindly responded to my post of the images on Twitter.
