The Late Show with Stephen Colbert had two notable visitors last night: Michael Moore and Jon Stewart.

Filmmaker Michael Moore is no stranger to controversy and hard topics with his work. He’s tackled so many of the worst examples of the horrors and evils that plague the American condition over the last two decades, with vastly different receptions from critics and viewers alike.

Always outspoken, the Flint, Michigan, native has usually pursued topics in his films that he felt needed to be brought into the public eye. There was of course Bowling for Columbine (perhaps even more relevant now than it was when it was first released), Fahrenheit 9/11, Sicko, Where to Invade Next, and his next documentary — Fahrenheit 11/9, which will follow the night of the 2016 presidential election and the subsequent rise of President Donald Trump.

Moore stopped by The Late Show with Stephen Colbert last night to talk about the film, and also drop some footage:

I cannot begin to describe the emotion I felt during the segment I just taped with Stephen Colbert tonight. It will air in an hour on the east coast on CBS. We talked about the deep despair tens of millions are feeling &what we’re going to do about it. We went long. Hope u see it

Also, Jon Stewart stopped by to take over for a bit during the show, to deliver what is best described as a scathing message to Trump:

Moore’s film Fahrenheit 11/9 is set to release on September 21st, 2018.
