Last night across his social media accounts, Kevin Smith revealed that AMC had opted to cancel his series Comic Book Men after seven seasons and 96 episodes.

His post was short, not naming specific reasons but urging fans to listen to the You Tell Em Steve Dave podcast for a “Viking funeral” for the show:

After 96 episodes, the @ComicBookMenAMC are now the Cancelled Book Men. On a new #SModcast, hear Walt, Bry, Ming, Mike & I hold a Viking funeral for our @AMC_TV show and reminisce about the happy highlights of seven seasons! With big @TellEmSteveDave news: https://t.co/C5HSs6H2F1 https://t.co/Ij6Rf9Suh8

The podcast is long, and if you are a fan of Comic Book Men, you should definitely listen to it.

There is no official word on why the series is canceled — it could be anything from ratings to a shift to focus more on AMC’s drama lineup.
