Comic Con International Announces 3-Day Thanksgiving 2021 Event

Comic Con International, parent company of WonderCon and San Diego Comic Con (among other events), just clarified what their nebulous “November event” will be. If you’ll recall, CCI announced that they would not be having the traditional San Diego Comic Con event in July of 2021. There was an open ended tease of a possible in-person event taking place later in the year, but no real concrete evidence of something happening.

CCI has just released a statement to San Diego’s News 10 with some of the specifics. But really, there isn’t much to go on.

A Comic Con type event will take place over Thanksgiving weekend, November 26th-28th 2021, at the San Diego Convention Center. However, other details such as badges, hotels, and just how much of the center will be used was not disclosed.

    David Glanzer, spokesperson, said:

“While we have been able to pivot from in-person gatherings to limited online events, the loss of revenue has had an acute impact on the organization as it has with many small businesses, necessitating reduced work schedules and reduction in pay for employees, among other issues. Hopefully this event will shore up our financial reserves and mark a slow return to larger in-person gatherings in 2022.“

We’ll do our best to keep you apprised of this situation.
