    “Resident Evil” Reboot Film Director Reveals Official Title

    That upcoming “Resident Evil” film franchise reboot finally has a title. According to the flick’s director Johannes Roberts, the new take on the zombie tale will be officially titled “Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City.”

    Roberts said:

    “The movie is very much an origin story for ‘Resident Evil.’ It’s an ensemble piece, and Raccoon City plays a big part and is a character in the movie. It’s about this group of people all coming from different angles — some coming into town, some already having grown up in this town — meeting over this one fateful night.”

    The news was revealed during a SXSW interview with IGN.

    We know a little bit about this reboot, which pretty much only means the cast at this point. Donal Logue will be playing Brian Irons, Raccoon City’s Chief of Police.  Kaya Scodelario (“Maze Runner“) will play Claire Redfield alongside Hannah John-Kamen (“Ant-Man and the Wasp“) as Jill Valentine, Robbie Amell (Upload) will be Chris Redfield, Tom Hopper (The Umbrella Academy) will be Albert Wesker, Avan Jogia (Zombieland: Double Tap) will be Leon S. Kennedy, and Neal McDonough (Yellowstone) will be William Birkin.

    “Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City” is looking at a September 3rd, 2021 theatrical release for the flick.
