Freddie Mercury LOVED the “Wayne’s World” Bohemian Rhapsody Scene

We are absolutely delighted to bring you this bit of music (and film) trivia that contains two of our favorite things- “Wayne’s World” and Queen. Arguably one of the most iconic uses of a song in a film, the classic driving sing along “Bohemian Rhapsody” moment continues to be multi-generational delight and right of passage.

As it turns out, it’s also a moment that the legendary Queen frontman Freddie Mercury was rather fond of.

This information was shared by Queen’s guitarist Brian May during the most recent episode of Josh Gad‘s YouTube series “Reunited Apart,” all about the 90s comedy classic, “Waynes World.”

As you can see in the video (towards the end), May describes it:

“I took it [a VHS of the film Mike Myers gave him] round to Freddie not long before he went and showed it to him. He loved it, he laughed and laughed. He was very weak, but he just smiled and laughed.”

“I didn’t know that. My little Toronto head can’t handle that. But that’s fantastic,” Myers says in response.

Although the audio in this episode is pretty rough, we enjoyed it thoroughly.

    Party on!
