Just in case you needed another giant freaking shark movie in your life, we’ve got some news on that front. We are indeed getting a second “The Meg” film, and Ben Wheatley will direct for Warner Bros. Pictures.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the most recent script was penned by Jon and Erich Hoeber, riffing off of Dean Georgaris‘ original draft for the sequel. They all previously worked on “The Meg” together.

Procers Lorenzo di Bonaventura and Belle Avery are also reportedly returning.

No official word on Jason Statham returning as Jonas Taylor, but early reports make it sound like its’ a given. Also, that he’s “creatively involved.”

We’re curious to see which of “The Meg” author Steve Alten‘s novels this gargantuan shark tale might cover next- as the series does have several installments now.

We will of course let you know what we hear about this project.

Until we know more, why not read through the entire series? Start with the first one, “The Meg,” which you can pick up on Amazon here.
