Alicia Vikander Reminds Us “Tomb Raider” Sequel Was Supposed to Be Filming Right Now

Just in case we had forgotten for five minutes that 2020 sucks- we were SUPPOSED to be getting a sequel to the Alicia Vikander-starring “Tomb Raider” reboot film next year. It was supposed to be filming right now, and we’re upset.

True, out of ALL THE THINGS we were supposed to have this year, this isn’t even in the top ten, but it still sucks.

Vikander recently appeared on Good Morning America, and offered an optimistic update on the status of the Ben Wheatley-directed return of Lady Lara Croft flick.

“The plan was for us to start making one this year, of course due to the [pandemic] situation, that’s now very different. We’re still in discussions about it, so I hope we can probably get to it next year.”

    Okay, that’s pretty promising.

If you’ll recall, the follow up film had a  March 19th, 2021 release date set by Warner Bros. Pictures for awhile, but…..*waves arms around.*

We will of course let you know what we hear about the status of this and other pandemic-delayed productions.
