Check Out The Stacks From ‘Ready Player One’ Done Entirely In LEGO

We love it when people build incredible things out of LEGO. One of the coolest things the Danish business does is allow fans to build sets and have the public vote on them to be produced in earnest by the block-tastic company. Gosh, do we wish this build was available.

If you haven’t read Ernie Cline‘s Ready Player One, let me explain what you’re about to see. In the book, it’s the year 2044. Earth has been ravaged by wars, an energy crisis, and widespread poverty. To create affordable housing, giant scaffoldings have been erected in cities across the USA that allow RVs and shipping containers to be stacked on top of one another, sometimes up to 30 units high.  These are “The Stacks”, and it’s where main character Wade Watts lives.

Twitter user Boone Langston posted this incredible block recreation of The Stacks today, and it’s pretty amazing:

LEGO and Ready Player One have a pretty good history, at least from the fanside. Back in 2012, there was this fabulously adorable trailer for the not-yet-announced film done entirely in LEGO:

The Ready Player One film, directed by Steven Spielberg, is due out in March of 2018, pushed back from an original release date of winter holiday season 2017. I personally couldn’t be happier about that move, partially because that means maybe it’ll be even better with additional time to edit, and partially because March is my birthday month.

The teaser shown at SDCC 2017 during the Warner Bros. Pictures panel, if you missed it:

Tye Sheridan (X-Men: Apocalypse) is set to star as Wade Watts/Parzival, Olivia Cooke is Art3mis, Simon Pegg is Ogden Morrow, Mark Rylance is James Halliday, and Ben Mendelsohn is bad guy Nolan Sorrento.
