Happy LV-426 guys and gals!  If you’ll recall, the name of the planetoid in the classic Alien film is called LV-426, and April 26th has long been the day to celebrate all things Ellen Ripley, Xenomorphs, and The Company (Weyland Yutani).

Last year was the 30th anniversary of Aliens, sequel Ridley Scott’s original groundbreaking sci-fi classic, resulting in fantastic releases of collectable items such as Reeboks’ “Stompers”, and screenings across the world.  This year Fox did an hour-long panel live from one of their sound stages, you can watch it here.

The forthcoming Alien: Covenant is the 6th film in the Alien franchise, and the sequel to the widely disappointing 2012 Prometheus. The movie sure LOOKS promising, but then again, the trailers for Prometheus were fantastic, and set everyone up to hope for a genre redefining jump.

20th Century Fox has been releasing several videos leading up to the May 19th 2017 release of Alien: Covenant.  Today’s is a prologue video titled “The Crossing”:

The Crossing, an official prologue short to Alien: Covenant, reveals what happened to crew members Dr. Elizabeth Shaw and the synthetic David after the events of Prometheus. Set aboard an abandoned Engineer vessel, Dr. Shaw repairs David as they continue their search for humanity’s creators.

Director Ridley Scott returns to the universe he created, with ALIEN: COVENANT, a new chapter in his groundbreaking ALIEN franchise. The crew of the colony ship Covenant, bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world. When they uncover a threat beyond their imagination, they must attempt a harrowing escape.

The announced cast includes Michael Fassbender, Katherine Waterston, Billy Crudup, Danny McBride, Demián Bichir, Carmen Ejogo, Amy Seimetz, Jussie Smollett, Callie Hernandez, Nathaniel Dean, Alexander England, and Benjamin Rigby.

Alien: Covenant opens worldwide on May 19th, 2017.
