Next up on the slate of Disney reboots comes The Lion King.  After Jon Favreau’s retelling and CGI love fest of The Jungle Book, the house-of-mouse has him on board to tackle the beloved tale of Pride Lands animals.

The Wrap is reporting that Seth Rogen will voice Pumbaa, and Billy Eichner will voice Timon.  Pumbaa the warthog was voiced in the original 1994 The Lion King by Ernie Sabella, and Timon the meerkat by Nathan Lane.

Previous names attached to the upcoming remake are Donald Glover as Simba and the returning rumble of James Earl Jones as Simba’s father, Mufasa. Both those announcements were made via twitter by Favreau.

There has been no official confirmation on the casting of Rogen and Eichner, as their representatives have been largely silent.  Disney and project director Jon Favreau usually do these types of announcements themselves, so maybe we’ll get that confirmation as the day progresses.

The Lion King currently has a set release date of July 19th, 2019 as posted by Jon.
