Super Bowl Extended Trailer: Jake Gyllenhaal and Ryan Reynolds in Sci-Fi Thriller ‘Life’

Now we’ve got the Super Bowl trailer for Life, the upcoming space thriller from Sony. Once again we have the eternal wisdom of “don’t mess with space goo” being ignored with undesirable results. Jake Gyllenhaal and Ryan Reynolds star as part of a crew of astronauts sent to retrieve a probe returning from the surface of Mars with surface samples.

They get it back to the space station and begin to examine it and it looks to be “waking” back up. Have none of these astronauts ever watched The Thing (the 1982 version of course)? So from there it looks like the alien blob gets larger and chasing the astronauts down (which shouldn’t be too hard since our current and near-future space stations aren’t exactly large or easy to hide in).

Directed by Daniel Espinosa, who has a track record of thrillers, most notably in the U.S. with 2012’s Safe House starring Denzel Washington. The film also stars Rebecca Ferguson, Hiroyuki Sanada, Ariyon Bakare, and Olga Dihovichnaya. It was originally a May release, but has now been moved up to March 23rd.
