“The Mandalorian” Officially Fits HERE in “Star Wars” Timeline

Yesterday, the first trailer for Disney+ original live-action “Star Wars” series “The Mandalorian” was released, and it raised even more questions. Namely, where the heck does it fit in the galaxy far, far away’s timeline.

If you missed the trailer drop from yesterday, you should watch it on a REALLY GOOD sound system, because it’s one of the best trailers since “Mad Max: Fury Road.”

In a new graphic released during the festivities, we get a MUCH better idea of where “The Mandalorian” falls in the official timeline.

You’ll notice we’re getting three main eras, here. “Age of Republic,” “Age of Rebellion,” and “Age of Resistance.”

You’ll note that the untitled Disney+ Obi-Wan Kenobi project (confirmed during the D23 panel yesterday) is listed in the above, right at the tail end of “Republic” but before the beginning of “Rebellion,” so that gives us an idea of where ol’ Ewan McGregor’s return to the Jedi Master role will fall. We already knew the Cassian Andor project starring Diego Luna and Alan Tyduk (reprising their “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” roles as Captain Andor and droid K2SO, respectively) was a go at Disney+, but nice to see it “official” in this graphic.

“The Mandalorian” will be set after the Rebel’s victory on the forest moon of Endor (or is it the Forest Moon, Endor?!?), but before “Star Wars: The Force Awakens.”

Jon Favreau has alluded to this being a time audiences haven’t seen, really, with “mostly unknown characters.” Which could of course mean there may be a familiar face or two, but they won’t be the focal point of the series.

WHICH IS WHY we’re pretty sure newly-announced cast member Ming Na Wen won’t be playing a live-action version of Ahoska Tano in “The Mando,” much as the animated series’ fans want her to.

And no, Taika Waititi will NOT be voicing IG-88, but he WILL be voicing IG-11.

Interesting that the “Knights of the Old Republic” whatever-it-is isn’t included here, nor are the proposed-and-confirmed other two Cosmic Conflict projects- a “new” trilogy from “Star Wars: The Last Jedi” director Rian Johnson (which won’t be a part of the Skywalker Saga), and the project from “Game of Thrones” responsible parties David Benioff and Dan Weiss (also not a part of the Skywalker Saga).

Needless to say, we are super SUPER excited for “The Mandalorian” to hit Disney+ on launch day- November 12th, 2019.
