“Das Boot”: Headed Into Remake Waters

I honestly have lost faith the Hollywood machine with remaking classics that have no reason to be redone.  The most recent in a long string of these titles including (but totally not limited to) Big Trouble In Little China, this Ghostbusters reboot, and coming out of Bavaria Film studios….Das Boot.

Yes, you read that right.  According to German trade magazine Blickpunkt, Bavaria Film wants to remake the CLASSIC Wolfgang Peterson submarine film which starred Juergen Prochnow, Herbert Groenemeyer and Klaus Wennemann.

Why, WHY would any studio think such a GOOD film needs to be ‘remade’?  I do not have words.
