“The Muppets”: ABC Brings Them Back!

If you missed the announcement yesterday in our 2015 television pickups piece, don’t worry, we’ve got you covered with the details.

Disney-centric ABC is bringing back a true institution to television, The Muppets!  Reportedly, it will resemble the ‘mockumentary’ style of Spinal Tap, the humor and characters being the main focus. The official press release from ABC reads:

The Muppets return to primetime with a contemporary, documentary-style show that, for the first time ever, will explore the Muppets’ personal lives and relationships, both at home and at work, as well as romances, break-ups, achievements, disappointments, wants and desires; a more adult Muppet show, for kids of all ages.

The last season of the original The Muppet Show aired in 1980.  Entertainment Weekly reports at a recent pilot presentation of this new Muppets show resulted in a standing ovation when it screened for ABC executives a couple weeks ago.

Needless to say, we cannot WAIT!
