Earlier this week, news broke that Michelle MacLaren had left the upcoming Warner Brothers project Wonder Woman, based on the classic DC Comics heroine.

Rumors have been running rampant since then, going so far as to name Angelina Jolie as the possible favorite to replace MacLaren, and that Michelle left Wonder Woman to pursue the upcoming Marvel title Captain Marvel.

Variety just broke the news that Wonder Woman has found a new director, and that yes, it’s a lady.  A very talented lady, who has actually almost directed a previous comic book film, Thor: The Dark World before leaving due to “creative differences”, which was the reason cited for MacLaren’s departure.   Patty Jenkins has primarily worked as a tv director, with episodes of Arrested Development, Entourage, and The Killing under her belt, her first feature film was 2003’s Monster, which got lead to Charlize Theron winning the leading actress Oscar.

Gal Gadot is still attached to star as Wonder Woman, and the film keeps it’s  June 23rd, 2017 release date.
