LIVE FROM NEW YORK IT’S SATURDAY NIIIIIGHT!

Man, even typing that I’m sad.  The legendary announcer Don Pardo recently passed away, the voice behind every single SNL episode.  Can you believe the NBC comedy series is celebrating it’s 40th birthday?  There has never been a show so long lived, so culturally influential (overall), and occasionally entertaining as Saturday Night Live.

The brainchild of Canadian comedian Lorne Michaels, the series first launched on October 11th, 1975.  The first round of cast members included  comedy legends Laraine Newman, John Belushi, Jane Curtin, Gilda Radner, Dan Aykroyd, Garrett Morris and Chevy Chase.  (Bill Murray just barely missed out on the first season due to budget constraints, but joined the show in the second season.)   141 cast members later, the series is still going strong.  SNL has become a launching point for some of the biggest names in comedy, beloved films, and dearly departed actors/actresses/writers.

The free app “SNL”  includes a personalization engine that responds to what and how you watch — and is supposed to predict what you want to see next. The app’s “SNL” emoji keyboard has 60 icons from classic and current episodes, reports Variety.

Go download it now, and let the laughs continue.

And just in time for Valentines Day, Stefon gives his advice:
