NBC’s hit series Hannibal based on the novel series by author Thomas Harris has just announced a major piece of casting for upcoming third season.  We already informed you about the departure of Michael Pitts as Mason Verger, and his replacement of Joe Anderson announced in December, and today we have the newest piece of the puzzle involving “The King Under The Mountain”.

Yes, Richard Armitage who played dwarven king Thorin Oakenshield will be joining the cast of season three as Francis Dolarhyde.  Those familiar with both the novels and films following the live and meals of Dr. Hannibal Lecter will be familiar with the name Francis Dolarhyde, a.k.a. the Tooth Fairy.  He is the primary villain in the first novel “Red Dragon”, in Manhunter (1984), and Red Dragon (2002).

Now I know I’m not the only person looking forward to seeing Thorin with the William Blake masterpiece “The Great Red Dragon And The Woman Clothed By The Sun” tattooed on his back?
