“Futurama”: May Not Be Cancelled Forever

Ok, I am a huge Futurama fan, have been since it aired THE FIRST TIME in March 1998.  It has had a long and traumatic run, being canceled and resurrected fully twice in it’s lifespan.  When the third and final cancellation was announced for 2013, it was with a measure of sadness and strangely peace that I prepared for the FINAL final season.

If you were a follower of the awesome romance between Fry and Leela, then chances are the true finale of the show on September 4th 2013 was perfect.  The ending we all wanted, and I’ll totally admit I cried.  It hit on all the proper tones I wanted and needed to say goodbye to these crazy characters.

    BUT.

It is being reported that this third cancellation MIGHT NOT BE THE END.  Actually, after reading the quotes from Leela (Katey Sagal) and Bender (John DiMaggio), I’m not convinced it’ll be returning anytime soon despite the other sites saying it’s a done deal:

Katey:  “I find that show is so fan-driven that it makes sense that somebody should pick it up.”

John:  “The last episode ended the way it did and totally left the door open for more things to happen. Whether it comes back to network television or goes to something like Netflix or something like that, who’s to say? All I know is that the cast would be ready to do it at the drop of a hat.”

I dunno about you guys, but I almost don’t want it to come back, because I felt the ending was strong enough and wrapped up all the feels.  The crossover episode with The Simpsons was just the icing on the “farewell” cartoon cake, not a rebirth, at least to me.

What do you think, would you WANT to see Futurama come back, or was the series ending strong enough?  Let us know in the comments!
