    Labyrinth: The Rumor Sequel UPDATE

The internet lit up today when rumors of a possible Labyrinth sequel spread faster than glitter on a fantasy film set.  This story steams from an interview with Billy Crystal over on Variety, where a mention at the VERY bottom of the piece says that Lisa Henson CEO of Jim Henson Studios is working on these upcoming projects:

It’s also working on a quartet of legacy titles in the Henson library — a “Fraggle Rock” movie that’s been in development at New Regency; a sequel to 1982’s “The Dark Crystal”; a sequel to 1986’s “Labyrinth”; and a movie based on the Emmet Otter character.

The thing is, there is ZERO confirmation on this.  In fact, this article over on Entertainment Weekly reports a source as saying the things currently “in the works” are the Fraggle Rock series reboot and a Dark Crystal sequel, which were confirmed earlier this year.

So get your Jareth pants out of a bunch, folks.  No new crystal ball wielding David Bowies…..for now.
