One of the most amazing things about Atlanta’s Dragon*Con convention is the ginormous group cosplay photoshoots.  You never know who will show up, and 2014 was no different.

Marvel success story Guardians Of The Galaxy director James Gunn (and his awesome brother Sean Gunn who was the on-set Rocket Raccoon and Kraglin in the film) came to Atlanta’s Dragon Con over Labor Day Weekend.  This was the Gunn’s first time at the four day epic convention, and they kept turning up in the most interesting places.  (These photos are from occasional Aggressor Bill Watters of The Watters Mark Photography.)

One of the highlights of this con is always the biggest fan costuming shoots anywhere in the country.  Saturday is always the DC universe, and Sunday is held for Marvel.  In years past there have been surprise appearances by former Superman Dean Cain, creator/legend Stan Lee, and many many others.  This year, for the Marvel shoot, the Gunns appeared, as well as artist extraordinaire George Perez and writer/editor Kelly Sue Deconnick.

Mary Anne Butler (Mab) got her start in album reviews and live concert coverage for a nationally published (print) music magazine as a teenager. She eventually transitioned to online media, writing for such sites as UGO/IGN, ComicsOnline, Geek Magazine, Ace of Geeks, Aggressive Comix (Editor-in-Chief), Bleeding Cool (News Editor), Nerdbot (as Editor-In-Chief), and now [Bad]Influencers, where she is Editor-in-Chief. Over the past 15 years, she’s built a well-known reputation at conventions across the globe as a cosplayer (occasionally), photographer (constantly), panelist and moderator (mostly), and reporter (always). Interviews, reviews, observations, breaking news, and objective reporting are the name of the game for the founder of Harkonnen Knife Fight, a Dune-themed band. She also produces award-winning immersive events, including Wasteland Weekend and Neotropolis.
