Apple TV+ has formally announced their live-action “Neuromancer” series is in production. [Spoiler: WE. KNOW.] Perhaps one of the most anticipated upcoming series, this 10-episode drama takes its cues from William Gibson‘s “The Sprawl” trilogy of novels; “Neuromancer,” “Count Zero,” and “Mona Lisa Overdrive.”

Gibson’s earlier story “Burning Chrome” really introduced cyberspace in 1981, “Neuromancer” is often credited as one of THE works of early cyberpunk culture.

July 1st is actually the anniversary of the book being published in 1984. Pretty perfect then that we get our very first look at the Chatsubo Bar. Aka The Chat, its a nighttime hub in Ninsei, an area of Chiba City, Japan where lots of the action takes place.

While it’s not a lot, you can almost see the console cowboys ready for a drink.

Callum Turner (“Masters of the Air“) stars as Case, a damaged, top-rung super-hacker who is thrust into a web of digital espionage and high stakes crime with his partner Molly (played by Briana Middleton), a razor-girl assassin with mirrored eyes aiming to pull a heist on a corporate dynasty with untold secrets.

I imagined the Chatsubo in 1984. 41 years later, I opened the door. Neuromancer is in production. https://t.co/2tc4k8oDuf

Joseph Lee, Mark Strong, Cleménce Poésy, Peter Sarsgaard, Emma Laird,  Dane DeHaan,  André De Shields, Max Irons, and Marc Menchaca also star. Showrunner Graham Roland and JD Dillard created the series, which is a co-production between Skydance Television and Anonymous Content. Dillard will direct the pilot.

We’ll let you know what else we hear about “Neuromancer” and other interesting news.
