HBO has released the first teaser for season 2 of their hit series, “The Last of Us.”

Based on the Naughty Dog video game series of the same name, “The Last of Us” takes place 20 years after the fall of modern civilization. After a fungus turns much of humanity into crazed, zombie-like, creatures.

The story centers around Joel (Pedro Pascal), a world-weary survivor, that is hired to smuggle 14-year-old Ellie (Bella Ramsey), out of a quarantine zone. What starts as a small job soon becomes a brutal and heartbreaking journey. The pair has to traverse the dangerous remains of the US while learning to depend on each other for survival.

Kaitlyn Denver will be playing Abby this season. Jeffrey Wright joined the cast to bring the character he voiced in the games, Isaac, to live-action. We also know Danny Ramirez (“Top Gun: Maverick”), Ariela Barer (“How To Blow Up a Pipeline”), Tati Gabrielle (“You”), and Spencer Lord (“Riverdale”) will all be joining the show.

“The Last of Us” season 1 is currently streaming on MAX. It will return for season 2 sometime in 2025.
