Quentin Tarantino’s Favorite Sci-Fi is “Battlestar Galactica”

I always knew I was justified in my love of QuentinTarantino, and a recent interview with the filmmaker cemented it. The “Pulp Fiction” writer/director has made no secret of his love of genre- mostly spaghetti Westerns and classic tales of pulp horror and science fiction. But what about…television?

One could make the assumption from that whole thing where Tarantino was working on a “Star Trek” film script that perhaps his favorite show was the Gene Roddenberry-created classic. But that’s apparently not the case. Instead, he named MY favorite science fiction series as his favorite- Ronald D. Moore‘s reimagined “Battlestar Galactica.”

“You know, I’m not that really drawn to science fiction as far as spaceship kinda stuff is concerned,” Tarantino said. “Even though, actually, right now, my favourite show on television is Battlestar Galactica. I think that show is awesome. But I’m not really that drawn to science fiction per se, especially when you’re talking about spaceship kind of movies.”

So of course now the question is- what if Quinten reimagined the reimagining? Considering his “Star Trek” script never went anywhere, and the *checks notes* two “BSG” adaptations from Sam Esmail and Simon Kinberg also appear dead, this could be a thing. Sometimes the passion projects are what get made, right? So….why not this?

“Battlestar Galactica” (2004) is celebrating it’s 20th anniversary this year, with a huge Creation Entertainment convention planned for October in Chicago. The series is currently streaming on Amazon’s Prime Video.
